We had a great adventure with Captain Alex! We had never been to Morris Island before and Alex taught us so much about the area’s history - and fossils. He was so kind and patient with the kids- made them very comfortable. We saw lots of dolphins close by! We all loved it and can’t wait to do it again!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do you take reservations?
Yes, all cruises are pre-planned and booked in advance.

Where do I meet the boat?
All cruises depart from the Folly River Boat Ramp
97 Center Street
Folly Beach, SC

Is there parking at the boat ramp?
There is very limited parking for cars at the boat ramp (about 6 spaces). There is street parking along Center Street, or you can consider a ride share.
How can I prepare for the cruise?
Please arrive hydrated, wear sunscreen, and dress in layers. You will be exposed to the sun, wind, and possibly water. Footwear should be appropriate for boating (rubber soles).

Can I bring my own food and drinks?
Yes, feel free to bring any food or drinks you would like to have on your cruise or on Morris Island. A cooler is provided. Bottled water is also provided.

What can I expect to see?
You will see the Morris Island Lighthouse, which sits just offshore of Morris Island. (The lighthouse is not accessible, people do not visit inside or climb up the lighthouse) It is highly likely that you will see the local dolphin population. You will see coastal birds, oyster beds, and the expansive marsh grass habitat. On the shores of Morris Island you will encounter a wide variety of shells and possible fossilized shark teeth
Will I get seasick?
These cruises are inshore on mostly flat waters. Although the Folly River can get choppy in windy conditions, sea sickness is not expected.

What if the weather does not look good on the day of our cruise?
Captain Alex monitors the weather closely and safety is always the number one priority. If the weather is unfavorable for a cruise, we will offer options for rescheduling or a full refund.
